Quick answer

How can I book a private transfer from Miami to Key Largo?

GoMiamiLimo arranges pre-booked private travel from Miami-area hotels, residences and MIA to Key Largo accommodations or marina destinations. The route generally heads south through Florida City and onto US-1; traffic and the final Key Largo address affect travel time. Share your pickup, party size, luggage and any return plans for a tailored quote.

01 / Your journey

Leave Miami behind.
The Keys await.

Key Largo is the first major island destination on the drive into the Florida Keys. After leaving the city, the journey transitions from South Florida's expressways toward the mainland's southern edge and the Overseas Highway. The destination is not a single downtown stop: resorts, dive operators, waterfront neighborhoods and marinas are spread along the island.

YOUR DESTINATIONKey Largo
The journey at a glance

  1. DEPARTURE

    Miami, on your terms.

Start at MIA, a Brickell or Downtown hotel, a Miami Beach property or another confirmed Miami-area location.

  2. SOUTHBOUND

    Toward Florida City and US-1.

Depending on the pickup and conditions, the route can use Florida's Turnpike Extension toward US-1. Card Sound Road is an alternate approach relevant to some North Key Largo destinations; neither road should be promised as the route for every trip.

  3. ARRIVAL

    Your part of Key Largo.

Key Largo spans approximately mile markers 108 to 90. A northern destination and a resort farther south along the Overseas Highway can add very different amounts of driving after entering the Keys.

Approximately 60 miles from Miami · Common planning estimate 1–1.5 hours in favorable traffic · Actual time varies by pickup, traffic and destination

One island. Different arrival points.

Mile markers are especially useful in the Keys because places are distributed along US-1 rather than clustered around a central station. John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park is around mile marker 102.5; resort areas around Rock Harbor are farther south. Travelers heading to a specific marina or waterfront rental should plan around that actual part of the island, not simply the words “Key Largo.”

Private from pickup to arrival

Your time. Your space.
Your way south.

A road trip into the Upper Keys is more enjoyable when the transportation is already arranged. Book a vehicle for your party, make the drive without navigating unfamiliar roads and arrive at the place where your stay begins.

Arrange your transfer
01

Leave when your trip begins

Start from your confirmed Miami location instead of taking a shuttle to a separate departure terminal. An airport arrival, hotel checkout and departure from a private home are different situations; the pickup can be arranged around the one that applies to you.

02

Settle in for the drive

Couples heading to a resort and families bringing bags for a longer stay need different amounts of space. Your chosen vehicle should be comfortable for both the people and belongings traveling south.

03

Reach the place you actually booked

A Key Largo resort, a residential canal-side home and a marina aren't interchangeable drop-offs. Your transfer continues to the confirmed accessible destination rather than ending at a generic island pickup point.

02 / Miami pickups

From the city.
To the Florida Keys.

Where you leave Miami influences the first part of the trip. The geography of Brickell, Miami Beach and MIA is different enough that a single journey time cannot accurately describe every pickup.

Downtown Miami & Brickell hotels

Brickell's towers and hotels lie near Brickell Avenue, South Miami Avenue and Biscayne Bay, while Downtown hotels spread toward Bayfront Park and Biscayne Boulevard. These pickups begin on the mainland. A transfer from a Brickell hotel doesn't require the causeway crossing needed for a Miami Beach departure, though Downtown traffic and building access can still affect departure. A cruise passenger extending a vacation into the Keys might also depart after an overnight stay in this area.

South Beach, Mid-Beach & North Beach

Miami Beach is east of the mainland, so guests leaving Ocean Drive, Collins Avenue or a resort farther north first travel back across Biscayne Bay. South of Fifth and the Art Deco District are in the southern part of the island; Mid-Beach and North Beach begin farther north and may call for different mainland approaches. That first leg can change the overall Key Largo estimate even before the vehicle starts south through Miami-Dade.

Miami International Airport

MIA is a common gateway for visitors continuing to the Keys rather than spending a night in Miami. At the airport, baggage claim and ground transportation are at the arrivals/ground level; travelers entering the United States internationally may also have passport control and Customs before they are ready to depart. The meeting instructions for a reserved chauffeur transfer depend on the actual booking, so do not assume that a flight's landing time is the pickup-ready time.

Coconut Grove, Coral Gables & residences

Coconut Grove and Coral Gables sit south and southwest of Downtown Miami, closer to some southbound connections than Miami Beach. Pickups here may begin at waterfront accommodations, houses, condominiums or hotels around the Grove and Coral Gables. Their exact starting points determine the most sensible route toward Florida City; a residence with controlled access may also need a practical meeting location.

03 / Settle into the right vehicle

Room for your people.
And their plans.

Explore the full fleet

For a Key Largo transfer, choose the vehicle for the full party and everything coming along—especially if you're packing for a week on the water rather than an overnight hotel stay.

Snorkeling and dive gear, golf clubs, strollers and other oversized items matter more to vehicle suitability than passenger count alone. Include unusual items when requesting transportation. See luggage and special-request guidance.

04 / Key Largo destinations

The first of the Keys.
The start of your stay.

Atlantic-side dive access, Florida Bay sunsets, large resorts and quiet residential streets all sit within Key Largo. Arriving at the northern entrance to the Keys isn't necessarily the end of the drive.

Plan your arrival
01 — Waterfront hotels & resorts

Key Largo resorts are spread along the Overseas Highway. Reefhouse Resort & Marina is in the northern part of the island, while Playa Largo Resort & Spa and Baker's Cay Resort are farther south near the Rock Harbor area. These aren't simply different hotel names: their positions can change how far the vehicle continues along US-1. Visitors staying for diving, resort dining or a waterfront weekend can arrange drop-off at the confirmed property rather than making a separate local connection. Hotel references illustrate geography and do not imply partnerships.

02 — Vacation rentals & waterfront homes

Beyond resort entrances, much of Key Largo's lodging is in neighborhoods with canal-front homes, smaller side streets and properties tucked away from US-1. Rock Harbor is one recognizable southern-area reference; other rentals lie nearer the northern end of the island. A private vacation home may not have a hotel-style lobby or obvious passenger entrance, so confirm the accessible arrival point if the property has a gate or restricted driveway.

03 — Marinas, diving & on-the-water plans

Key Largo is known for diving, snorkeling and fishing trips. John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, at about mile marker 102.5, is a major departure area for reef experiences and glass-bottom boat activities. Other dive shops, charter operators and marina facilities are located elsewhere on the island. A boat departure or dive check-in has its own timetable; plan the transfer to the actual operator or marina, not a general Key Largo landmark.

The finer details

A little planning.
A better journey.

Open the topics that apply to your trip. These are travel-planning details specific to the drive into the Upper Keys, not a second set of booking instructions.

How traffic changes the drive south

Miami-area departure traffic is only part of the timing. The approach through southern Miami-Dade, the connection around Florida City and the single main US-1 corridor into the Upper Keys can all affect the trip. Weekend and holiday travel may be slower than a quiet weekday. Allow additional margin if your destination has a fixed check-in, boat departure or scheduled activity; a 1–1.5-hour planning range is not a guaranteed arrival time.

MIA arrivals and flight timing

If you're continuing straight from MIA to Key Largo, leave room for the time between landing and leaving the terminal. Domestic baggage collection and international passport/Customs processing are not identical. Airport pickup instructions are supplied for the reservation, and the final transfer timing should account for the passenger's actual arrival process rather than treating touchdown as the start of the road journey.

Children, bags and water-sports equipment

A family heading to a vacation rental may have larger luggage needs than a couple checking into a resort. Child seats, strollers, dive bags, golf equipment and mobility items can affect the practical seating-and-cargo combination. Request child seats in advance and confirm what can be supplied; vehicle capacity and equipment availability depend on the specific arrangement.

Comfort stops and longer Keys itineraries

A direct transfer is intended to reach the confirmed Key Largo destination, but a comfort stop can be discussed before departure. If you plan to visit several places, dine in Islamorada or keep a vehicle waiting during an activity, that is a different itinerary and should be quoted as such. Islamorada, Marathon and Key West are farther down the island chain, not alternate names for Key Largo.

Returning to Miami or the airport

A return transfer can begin at your resort, rental or marina and finish at a Miami hotel, residence or MIA. Don't calculate an airport departure by simply reversing the outbound ETA: the pickup point along Key Largo, traffic toward Miami and flight check-in requirements all matter. Arrange the return time around the actual flight or appointment.

Before you travel

Good questions.
Clear answers.

How far is Key Largo from Miami?

Key Largo begins roughly 60 miles south of Miami, but the actual distance depends on the pickup and where your accommodation sits on the island. Key Largo extends from approximately mile marker 108 to mile marker 90, so a northern address and a Rock Harbor-area resort won't have the same final travel distance.

How long is a private car transfer from Miami to Key Largo?

Around 1–1.5 hours is a useful planning estimate in favorable conditions. It may take longer when leaving Miami Beach, during heavier traffic, or when the destination is farther south on Key Largo. Holidays, incidents and weather can also affect US-1; no particular duration should be treated as guaranteed.

Can you pick us up at Miami International Airport?

MIA pickups can be requested for direct transfers to Key Largo. Provide your flight details and allow time for baggage collection and any international arrival formalities. You'll receive pickup instructions specific to the confirmed reservation.

Which Key Largo hotels and resorts can we reach?

The service can be requested for accessible Key Largo accommodations, including resort areas around Reefhouse Resort & Marina, Playa Largo Resort & Spa and Baker's Cay Resort, subject to availability. These examples show why the exact destination matters: the properties are located in different parts of the island. Mentioning them does not imply an affiliation.

Can we book a transfer to Ocean Reef Club?

North Key Largo and Ocean Reef Club-area trips can be requested, subject to service availability and the property's applicable guest-access arrangements. Card Sound Road may be relevant to that journey. Do not assume a chauffeur can enter controlled-access property without authorization; confirm access requirements ahead of time.

Is John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park in Key Largo?

Yes. The park is on the oceanside of the Overseas Highway around mile marker 102.5. It is associated with reef excursions, snorkeling and diving. If you're heading to the park for a scheduled activity, provide the actual activity location and allow for the operator's check-in time.

Is Uber or a shared shuttle an option from Miami to Key Largo?

On-demand rides or shuttle services may be options, depending on the provider, time and precise destination. Availability, return-trip arrangements and luggage rules can vary, especially for locations away from the main road. A prearranged private transfer is an alternative when you prefer the vehicle and destination arranged ahead of time. Check a provider's current service and price rather than relying on a fixed estimate.

How much does a Miami to Key Largo private transfer cost?

The price depends on your Miami pickup, destination along Key Largo, date, vehicle category, party size and any requested stops or special equipment. The site doesn't publish a single fare that accurately covers every possible hotel, airport or residential combination. Request a quote for your specific itinerary; don't assume competitor prices or online estimates are GoMiamiLimo rates.

Can we bring dive bags, fishing gear or extra luggage?

Tell us what equipment is traveling with you. Diving and fishing trips can involve bulky bags or cases, and the vehicle needs space for both the full passenger party and its cargo. The appropriate sedan, SUV or van depends on the items and available configuration.

Can we arrange a return trip to Miami or MIA?

Yes, a return can be requested along with the outbound journey. Share the return date, pickup point along Key Largo and final Miami destination. When traveling to MIA, plan around airline check-in and the possibility of slower northbound road conditions.

Can we request a stop on the way?

A comfort or planned stop can be discussed before booking. Additional time, waiting or destinations may affect the quote. A multi-stop Keys outing is different from a direct point-to-point transfer and shouldn't be assumed to be included.
